Gridless is an optionated HTML5 and CSS3 boilerplate for making mobile first responsive, cross-browser websites with beautiful typography.

Gridless takes the boring parts of making websites and webapps out. It comes packed with everything you’re tired of doing in every new project: CSS normalization, beautiful typography, a well-organized folder structure, IE bugfixes and other nice tricks.

Gridless uses mobile first responsive web design to adapt itself to the device’s width. This means it’ll work anywhere: old feature phones, newer smartphones, tablets, notebooks and bigger desktops. IE6/7/8 don’t support media queries, so we use Respond.js to polyfill that.

Client Side Pagination jQuery Plugin: jPages

jPages is a client-side pagination plugin but it gives you a lot more features comparing to most of the other plugins for this purpose, such as auto page turn, key and scroll browse, showing items with delay, completely customizable navigation panel and also integration with Animate.css and Lazy Load.

Apart from all its features, the main diference for the other pagination plugins is that with jPages you can create as many navigation panels as you want and you can choose exactly where to place them.

JPEG Images Clipping Into Non-Rectangular Polygons: polyClip.js

There have been many times you have come across the need to take an image and cut an irregular shape out of it. Normally, when a developer comes across this requirement, the only thing to do is to open the image up with your favorite graphics editor, use the select tool to cut out the shape you want, and then save the result as a PNG, since it is the only image format used by all web browsers that support alpha channels.

The problem is that PNG images, while compressed, are not as small as JPEGs if the source image is a photograph, and the download time of a page can balloon to unacceptable levels if there are many of these types of image on a page.

polyClip.js is a jQuery plugin that uses HTML5 canvas to clip a JPEG (or any other image for that matter). The library also supports older versions of IE (7-8) using the Excanvas JavaScript library which polyfills canvas using VML.

Arrange Letters Along a Curved Path using jQuery CSS3: Arctext.js

While CSS3 allows us to rotate letters, it is quite complicated to arrange each letter along a curved path.

Arctext.js is a jQuery plugin that let’s you do exactly that. Based on Lettering.js, it calculates the right rotation of each letter and distributes the letters equally across the imaginary arc of the given radius.

The main idea behind the Arctext plugin is to rotate letters with CSS3 transforms in order to place them along a curved path. The curve is always a segment of a circle (hence arc) for which the radius can be specified. The space and rotation for each letter will be calculated using that radius and the width of the text.
